During August 5 - 9, representatives of the African Fire Mission (AFM) from the United States stayed with a visit in Kherson Oblast. This is their second visit to the Main Department of the SES of Ukraine in Kherson Oblast.

The program of their visit was quite intense: during the week, US fire officials conducted theoretical and practical training for their Kherson colleagues and exchanged experiences. The topics of the classes were very diverse. These include "Social Media Communications and Marketing", "Rescuers' actions during an accident", "Mental health of firefighters", "Public fire safety and prevention", "Building collapse and rescue of victims", "Operations with dangerous substances". More than 150 rescuers from different regions of Kherson Oblast took part in these activities. All trainings were discussed by the participants, and during the practical training the Kherson and American rescuers actively exchanged experiences. Also, AFM representatives assist rescuers in the field with various technical equipment and uniforms, which greatly improves emergency response work.

Before leaving, the delegation of the African Fire Mission met with the Head of the Kherson Oblast State Administration Yurii Gusev. The Governor thanked the American firefighters for their valuable experience, providing humanitarian assistance to the rescue units, and stressed the need to further develop long-term relationships with the SES oblast office to enhance the level of fire safety.
