From June 24 to July 2, the Kherson delegation took part in a training meeting in Krakow, Republic of Poland, within the framework of the project "Improving the effectiveness of the response of Ukrainian emergency rescue services in emergencies".
The delegation, which included the heads of the four amalgamated territorial communities and one head of the village council, was headed by Ekaterina Gavrilova, deputy head of the Main Department of the State Service for Emergencies of the oblast. The main topics of the meeting were the organization of work of voluntary fire protection system in the Republic of Poland, the creation and maintenance of voluntary fire-fighting units, and the training of firefighters.
During the stay, the principles of operation and best practices of Polish units of voluntary fire protection of local level were researched. Considerable attention was paid to experience exchange with the heads of local government of Malopolska Voivodeship that has units of voluntary fire protection. Therefore, the heads of Kherson communities got carefully acquainted with the peculiarities of farming in the Polish municipalities (gminas). This was an exclusive opportunity for sharing knowledge and practical work in all spheres of activity of local self-government bodies.
The visit provides the basis for long-term cooperation between local governments of Poland and Ukraine, and delegations of the Polish municipalities were invited to visit the amalgamated territorial communities of Kherson region. All common initiatives will be applied in the field of increasing the competence of the personnel, raising the level of fire safety in the Kherson region and the Malopolska Voivodeship.
