The first planning conference took place in Lviv State University of Life Safety within the framework of the project “Improvement of measures on prevention, preparedness and response to chemical and natural disasters, which simultaneously affect the participating states, with the help of a series of exercises for testing and strengthening of national potential using united civil protection mechanism and international cooperation”.
The event was attended by the representatives of five countries: the Republic of Poland represented by the President of the International Center for Chemical Safety and Security Krzysztof Paturai, the Republic of Lithuania represented by the Deputy Director of the Association of Fire Safety of Rescuers of Lithuania Vugandas Kurkulis, the Czech Republic represented by the Director of the Department of Fire Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Czech Republic Roman Bili, the Republic of Belarus represented by the Head of the Department of the State University of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Emergencies of the Republic of Belarus Maksym Tyhonov, and the delegation of the Republic of Moldova headed by the Head of Chemical and Radiation Protection of General Directorate for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Moldova Colonel Sergio Dzhunea.
During the meeting with the rector of the University Professor Myroslav Koval the participants of conference discussed the methods of conducting of classroom command-post exercises, criteria for its evaluation and significance for the countries of participants of the project.
It should be noted that the event takes place with the financial support of the European Commission, namely the Directorate General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Missions.
Three main activities have been planned in the framework of the project: theoretical studies in the Republic of Belarus, command exercise in Moldova and full-scale three-day field exercise with the involvement of the forces and means of participating states.
