The tactical special exercises, trainings and practical classes occupy an important place in the activity of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. Except that such activities help firefighters to improve their professional skills, as well as allow them to work together with other emergency services and workers in extremal situations.
So, on November 18, the rescuers of Kyiv City conducted the tactical exercises at multi-storey building in Solomianskyi district. The aim of the exercises was to study by personnel the operational and tactical features of the object and to work on the order of interaction between the fire and rescue units during the emergency response. Thus, according to a tactical plan, a conditional fire took place on the roof of a 25-storey building. To ensure sufficient pressure to extinguish the fire on the roof of the building, the rescuers installed motor pumps, one for every 10 floors and laid a main line through the stairwells. To achieve the required pressure to extinguish the fire, the firefighters supplied water through a tanker installed on the fire hydrant.
On the same day, the rescuers of Volyn oblast conducted the tactical special exercises at Manevychi peat plant. According to the legend of the exercises, a conditional fire took place on the first floor in the pressing room of briquette shop. The administration of the peat plant informed the Rescue Service about the fire. The rescuers of Manevychi village, after reconnaissance, evacuated the victims and started to extinguish the conditional fire. Because of heavy smoke the rescuers worked in breathing apparatuses. To prevent the fire from spreading to the second floor of the building the SES workers laid a main line, organized water pumping for the second fire truck, and supplied water to protect the second floor of the building by using a three-knee ladder.
At the same time, the rescuers of Dnipropetrovsk oblast trained to operate an air drone at training point of emergency rescue unit of special assignment of the Main Department. The drone is an alternative to long-term monitoring and obtaining a set of data that can be used to study natural hazards. The aim of exercise is to properly organize the measures to firefighting in the forests, to obtain the detailed and comprehensive information on the operational situation in the area of the fire and its possible spread by using high technology, including air drones.
The skills gained in practice will help firefighters to perform their assigned tasks in different emergencies.
