To ensure an adequate level of fire safety and to prevent emergencies during the preparation and holding of local elections to be held in Ukraine this Sunday, specialists of the Rescue Service throughout the country are inspecting the sites where polling stations will operate.
During the inspections, the emergency services, first of all, pay attention to the condition of the evacuation routes, the serviceability of fire-fighting equipment, the availability of primary fire extinguishing equipment and relevant documentation, the provision of the facility with fire-fighting water supply, etc.
Thus, on October 20, in the Volyn oblast, firefighters conducted firefighting briefings with members of polling stations in the city of Lutsk and Lutsk district. During the interviews, rescuers explained the specifics of fire safety at polling stations and stressed the mandatory placement of primary fire extinguishers on the territory of the polling station, maintenance of free evacuation routes and electrical safety requirements. In addition, rescuers explained in detail the procedure for the members of the commission in case of fires, emergencies or other unclassified events, as well as handed over the relevant notes.
At the same time, in Poltava oblast, in order to ensure the proper level of fire safety and prevent emergencies, specialists of the regional Rescue Service "101" continue to check the state of fire and man-made safety of premises where polling stations will operate. Such work is carried out in all districts of the region. Rescuers are checking the availability of primary fire extinguishing equipment, evacuation plans, the availability and free access to evacuation exits, etc. In addition, SES specialists conduct additional firefighting briefings with representatives of polling stations and employees of institutions and establishments where citizens will express their will, and hand out thematic memos.
In turn, in the Lviv region, Horodok rescuers have already completed an inspection of the facilities involved in the elections. As of October 19, 74 planned polling stations have been inspected in Horodok district. According to the results of inspections, the managers and balance holders of the relevant facilities were handed instructions to eliminate violations identified during unscheduled activities. Rescuers also carried out preventive and explanatory work among members of election commissions. People received reminders on how to act in case of an emergency.
And in the Luhansk oblast, Rubizhne’s firefighters practiced firefighting skills at polling stations. Thus, on October 19, rescuers conducted tactical and special exercises at polling stations, working out a number of measures to eliminate emergencies of various kinds in the administrative building of the City Executive Committee of the Rubizhne City Council. Emergencies checked the location of evacuation routes, their availability to citizens if necessary, the availability of sources of fire water supply and more. Such exercises not only help to improve the professional skills of firefighters, but also allow the personnel of the regular guards to study in practice the operational and tactical characteristics of the objects.
Dear citizens! When going to the polls, remember, first of all, about the observance of anti-epidemic security measures: keep a social distance, use masks and gloves, bring antiseptic. In case of detection of a suspicious object at the polling station or in case of any emergency, do not hesitate, call the Rescue Service "101" immediately!
