On October 13-16, command and staff exercises were held in Ukraine to organize interaction and coordinate the actions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on joint implementation of tasks in preparation for local elections and on the day of citizens' expression of will on October 25.
On the last day of the exercise, October 16, the introductory part of the first stage of the exercise was practiced, which covered the period of preparation for the elections - from October 16 to 25. In the second stage, the specialists worked out a change in the operational situation on election day, and in the third stage, they worked out the events that could occur during the calculation of the results of the expression of will.
Thus, the forces and means of the SES involved in the exercises worked out dangerous situations in practice in the direction of their activities. In particular, fire and rescue units extinguished a conditional fire and rescued victims of an explosion at a polling station. In addition, during the exercise, the SES air reserve was involved, which includes two helicopters: one for the prompt delivery of personnel to the scene, and the other for the aeromedical evacuation of the victim.
Command and staff exercises participants also responded to questions of voter bribery, attempts to block the territorial election commission by unknown individuals, reports of polling mines, etc.
Commenting on the course of the exercises, the Head of the State Emergency Service Mykola Chechotkin noted that the most common situations that could occur at polling stations had been worked out.
