The Department of the SES of Ukraine is closely operating with foreign colleagues in order to take measures for the safety of citizens in the region. So, a seminar “Presentation of National Legislation in Ukraine and Romania on Emergency Management and the best practices of the local rescue services in Novoselytsia town and Vladen commune” took place today by video conference between the partners of the project “Cross-border cooperation of fire and rescue services” – the representatives of Vladen commune of Botosani County (Romania) and Novoselytsia town of Chernivtsi oblast. The seminar was attended by the representatives of local government authorities, the leadership of the SES of Ukraine in Chernivtsi oblast and 30 members of the target group of the project - 15 volunteer rescuers from Novoselytsia town and 15 rescuers from Vladen commune.
During the seminar the participants discussed the functioning of volunteer firefighters, the peculiarities of local fire and rescue services in both countries, the legal framework of their activities, the experience of implementing such teams in communities, etc. The partners were equally involved in the organization of the seminar, and during the video conference there was an active discussion between the participants.
Acting Head of the Department of the SES of Ukraine in Chernivtsi oblast Andrii Androniak noted that a movement of volunteer firefighters was developing in Chernivtsi oblast this year. Recently, two volunteer teams have been established Velykokuchurivska and Mamaivska united territorial communities, and now a similar unit will operate in Novoselytsia united territorial community. “I can say that in this direction we feel the active support of local authorities. Everyone understands the importance of the establishment and proper functioning of voluntary local fire and rescue teams, their assistance in ensuring the security in the community”, - said Andrii Androniak during his speech.
The exchange of best practices, that the participants shared during the seminar, gives an opportunity to get a new knowledge on how to prevent and respond to emergencies in both communities and strengthen the cross-border cooperation between Ukraine and Romania.
