Pyrotechnic divisions of the SES of Ukraine carry out daily inspections of the territory of the country, the detection, removal and destruction of explosive items, both during the past wars and modern ammunition. Only in the past 24 days, the pyrotechnic units of the SESU made 24 departures, during which 431 detonated objects were seized and destroyed.
So, in the Kyiv region, rescuers continue to find the dangerous remnants of past wars in the forest area of the village of Kalinovka, where on February 5 workers of the Makariv State Forestry Enterprise found an artillery shell. On February 8, during the inspection of the territory of the forest area, a group of pyrotechnic works of the emergency rescue detachment of the special purpose of the regional administration of the SESU additionally identified 271 artillery shells, and February 12 - another 152 artillery shells. In total, 433 units of obsolete munitions have been detected since the announcement of a dangerous discovery of pyrotechnics.

Rescuers also discovered a concentration of explosive items during the Second World War in the Odessa region, not far from the railroad outside the village Krasne of Tarutinsky district. The announcement of two items, similar to artillery shells, was received by the Rescue Service on February 7th. Since then, the pyrotechnic subdivisions of the Main Department of SES of Ukraine in Odesa Oblast have conducted an inspection of the specified territory, discovered a significant number of ammunition and organized work on their extraction and disposal. In total, during the period from February 8 to 12, 90 units of explosive items from the Second World War were seized and destroyed, including 35 artillery shells with a caliber of 152 mm.

In addition, humanitarian demining of the liberated territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions continues.

For example, in the Luhansk region during the past 24hrs, pyrotechnic units of the SES of Ukraine surveyed 0.8 hectares of territory, where 5 units of explosive objects were detected and seized.

At the same time, in the Donetsk region, the pyrotechnic units surveyed 2,52 hectares of territory, where 71 units of GNP were discovered and seized.

In general, since the beginning of the year, the pyrotechnic units of the SES of Ukraine seized and destroyed 7,969 explosive objects, including 90 aviation bombs.

Therefore, in order to prevent accidents among the population in the event of the detection of explosive objects, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine again appeals to citizens to adhere to the rules of safe handling of explosive or unknown objects!

Categorically prohibited:

  • touch a suspicious object or move it;
  • fill it with liquids, fill it with soil or cover it with something;
  • to carry out on a suspicious object sound, light, thermal or mechanical influence;
  • try to self-destruct the discovery;
  • to disassemble an explosive object.

Remember that in the case of detecting explosive objects, you must immediately report this to the number "101" or "102", and in no case try to identify and dispose of the found ammunition on its own.
